Hello, I'm David Lister

I'm an experienced Senior Information Technology and Security Professional, with a rich background of over 10 years specializing in enhancing the strategic planning and execution of IT and Information Security functions within various organizations. Fluent in English and conversant in French, my career has been marked by a dedication to addressing information security requirements across all levels, from board members and senior executives to end users and customers.

Professional Journey

I am presently serving as an independent advisor and mentor to CISOs and other information security professionals, focusing on enhancing their strategic approaches and operational tactics within the cybersecurity domain. This role allows me to leverage my extensive experience to guide the next generation of security leaders.

Prior to this, I led a Security Consultancy firm as the Head of Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC), where I managed a team of consultants dedicated to providing expert security and risk advice. My professional history also includes significant contributions as a Manager of Information Security capability, advising various government organizations, and as the Head of Information Security, where I provided strategic guidance and advice within a major New Zealand banking institution.

Educational Foundations & Certifications

My academic journey includes a National Diploma in Business from Christchurch Polytechnic, complemented by a plethora of professional certifications in the realm of IT security, including CRISC, CCSP, and CISSP, showcasing a lifelong commitment to professional development.

Skills and Expertise

With a focus on security governance, vulnerability management, risk management, incident handling, security awareness, and compliance, I've successfully established organization-wide, risk-centric information security and privacy programs.

Personal Side

Outside of professional interests, I enjoy reading, immersing myself in the world of Rugby Union, travelling, dining out with friends and family, and engaging in video gaming, reflecting a well-rounded personal life.
